TROUBLE IN PARADISE

Welcome, folks, to the peaceful city of Mountainbrook, situated in mountainous Colorado, year 2016, month of June. With a surprisingly dense population of 156,000, it's one of the largest cities in the state, but relatively isolated, nestled as it is in a valley so large it's sometimes hard to think of it as one. With only 3 roads out - all of them highways - it's very easy for it to feel like an island of civilization surrounded by an ocean of rocky mountainside.

Mountainbrook is relatively self-sustained city, with some farmland to the north, and the industrial center to the south. The Colorado River flows heavily down the middle of the valley-floor, neatly bisecting the city into easy and west - most of the suburban sprawl is focused around the west, with the large urban center clustered in the east. With a total acreage of some 253 square miles, and surrounded as it is outside of city limits with an idyllic national forest, Mountainbrook is a beautiful place.

Many of the small businesses in the area have some dealings with the corporation that funded the building of the city itself, United Technological Enterprises (formally Redman Incorporated), or UTE for short, and many of them owned wholly as subsidiary companies, much of the populace is, in one way or another, employed by said company - all told, nearly 83%. The remaining 17% is almost entirely comprised of federal employees.

With an astonishingly low crime-rate, some of the most highly-rated schools in the country, and many excellent job opportunities, Mountainbrook is considered one of most wonderful cities in the country.

Or was, before it all went dark 3 days ago, and all of the roads and narrow mountain-passes were seemingly blocked off. Rumors of widespread riots in this once picture-perfect city have rocked the nation, and some even whisper of a possible terrorist attack - they say some kind of nerve or biological agent was used.

This is where S.R.T.-5 (Special Response Team, Five Man Squad) comes in. A highly-trained Special Operations Unit that does not officially exist, S.R.T.-5 comprises only the most skilled individuals with exemplary records, months of psych-training and evaluation, and five years of accumulated active-combat duty as a bare minimum for eligibility to enter, S.R.T.-5 is one of the most skilled Black Operations units in the service. They are given the most advanced gear, and a wide range of options that most military units can only dream of - including almost unlimited tactical and strategic control while they're on the ground - up to and including ordering precision tactical nuclear strikes.

S.R.T.-5 has been sent in to assess the situation, deal with any immediate domestic threat, and provide on-the-ground knowledge of the situation to their superiors in the capitol. They will deal with any danger as they see fit, to the best of their ability, and only pull out if absolutely necessary. But even these hardened veterans have no idea what awaits them in what was once America's Most Picturesque City.

Squad Leader: The Squad Leader is the voice of authority on the ground. His actions will be fully sanctioned by the Pentagon - though never officially recognized - and his main job is to direct the forces under his command to the best of their collective abilities. Medical Expert: The Medical Expert is the biological expert and medic of S.R.T.-5. Her main directive is to ensure that the rest of her team makes it out alive, as well as collect any pertinent biological samples from Mountainbrook - Viral, Bacterial, or otherwise.

Technical and Engineering Specialist: The Tech expert is responsible for upkeep and field repairs to any technological devices the team is using, as well as for data-mining, hacking, opening of electronic locks, as well as monitoring communications and keeping communications open with Command. Heavy Weapons and Demolitions: This position is responsible for carrying the heavy weapons of the team, as well as for use of heavier explosives (C4 and C5), improvised or otherwise, as well as being responsible for Breach and Clear, along with Squad Leader.

Designated Marksman and Recon: The 'scout' of the team, the DMR is responsible for long-range, pinpoint fire support, as well as scouting along with one other squad member - at Squad Leader's discretion - when such a thing is required. TAKEN - The Unknown

Obviously, this is going to be a zombie roleplay. You play as highly-trained soldiers - certain language is accepted, other language is not. As BESTOFTHEBESTBLACKOPSVETSAMGAWZM, however, I will allow a certain amount of creative enterprise. True talent is always given a bit of leeway. Not big on military jargon? Now, other than that, this will be a joint-roleplay, LOOSELY run by myself - I might ask, every now and then, for some dice rolls from you guys in certain situations, and I'll be running the encounters. In the cases where we split up, one group won't know what the other is doing - we'll use an IM service, and I'll GM it for you there.

THAT BEING SAID, feel free to shoot the shit out of zombies - I'm not going to make you roll for each shot. You're a highly trained specialist with years of experience beneath your belt, and this is mostly free-form, for fun awesomeness. I WILL be keeping track of supplies, to add to realism and such, but other than that, this is free-form. Wanna take out a big-ass group of zombies? Explain how you do it, and it's done.

I DO have an idea for where this is going, but if you want a certain encounter to happen at a certain time, contact me in private and tell me, and I'll run it if it'll fit - which it almost definitely will! This RP is for the Rule of Cool, remember that.
